What is Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)?

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder where children have difficulty learning and using language which cannot be explained by other conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), hearing loss, or brain injury. Despite having adequate language learning opportunities, children with DLD may struggle to understand or use words, form sentences, or follow instructions, impacting their ability to communicate, learn, and engage in everyday activities. With the right support, children can improve their language skills over time.
