About the Speech Pathologists In Schools Pilot Program
From 2021 to 2025, the North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) hosted the Department of Education’s groundbreaking Speech Pathologists in Schools (SPiS) Pilot Program.
With the support of NEMLDC and the North Metropolitan Education Regional Office, the program grew 19-fold over five years, from just 2 schools in 2021 to 38 schools in 2025. This success saw SPiS transition from a pilot to an ongoing Department of Education program from 2026 onwards, with Brabham Primary School taking on the role of SPiS Management Partner.
The SPiS Program, and the many schools and students who have benefited from it, are incredibly grateful to NEMLDC for their support in helping establish and grow the program into what it is today.
